Photobucket problems!

Post  Violent Munter on Mon Jan 19, 2009 8:22 am

Eeep, looks like images used in the forum run out of bandwidth and now it looks ugly!

However, I have website hosting. Not sure what the bandwidth is like, but sure as hell better than photobucket I'm sure. So, to save the forum's good looks, would you like me to host the images?

WTF?? I've never uploaded one, let alone changed it to something that would rupture the forum!!

Shit, I stand corrected... wonder why it's done weird things to your avatar then?

Now I am stumped. Anyone else uploaded any images??

Oh my god it's driving me insane!!! I've looked all over the forum for new images, I can't see anything new that could have broken it..

no! no! no! no! no!

Photobucket support says:

I tried taking all quad's links out, but it didn't make any difference so I put em all back! (sorry, not quite in the same posts, but they're all there).

Has anyone else uploaded any images / avatars?

I'm not sure if links to other sites can cause this problem.. I asked support. Any one got any ideas about that? I woulda thought sites host their own images? <technical knowledge limit reached>

G, what's the stuff in the design forum on , ie your roller/leopard girl? I'm sure perople have looked at that a lot?
Can't think of anything else unless it is indeed a ploy by PB to get you to upgrade.

It looks like it's the fault of the guy who hosts the template you use: http://help.forumotion.com/other-problems-f46/upgrade-to-photobucket-pro-t34734.htm

I guess it'll be back some time soon, or you could change the template.

Oh, I didn't realise you were using a pre-made skin! This explains why the rollerbilly banner is still happy! Yeah, Angela's right, that'll be what it is. What's happened is the forumotion guy who made the skin hosted some of the images on a photobucket account instead of the forumotion hosting. With multiple different forums across the internet using his skin, he has gone over his broadband limit (nothing to do with popular links, or anything like that, don't worry). It looks like the forumotion people will sort this out pretty quickly... so you can either leave it, and wait. Or you could make a new theme, and I would happily host the images for it.

You might also want to reply to photobucket explaining the situation, and maybe showing them the forumotion help thread. The images in the skin shouldn't have been hosted on a free photobucket account, and you weren't to know that they were.

Hm, you are ace! Reading the threads it looks like there's a bit of disagreement about whether it's the skin or some other photobucket fuck up. I'll leave it for now and if they don't resolve it tomorrow I'll try some new skins and see if that works.

It's weird bc none of the images I have on photobucket are affected - it's just the weird background stuff. So yeah, it does look like the skin. If anyone has mad skinning skills, please shout. We could use a custom skin for the forum and for the blog - both of them are just conveniently green-ish pre-made ones. It's getting slightly tiresome doing all our web stuff with the free option, but we've got so many things we need to buy - making the blog and the forum pretty isn't such an important priority as buying knee pads! So any expertise/help would be great.
