heartless wheels at everglides

Post  little knell on Fri Sep 04, 2009 3:23 pm

hey,
i'm sure some people will have noticed this, but for those who haven't, everglides are now stocking *heartless wheels*! the reason i think this is exciting is that the heartless are narrow profile for increased manouverability (like the hockey wheels), but because they are derby wheels they come in different grades of hardness so you can mix and match them. they are also totally hollow-core so are lighter than regular wheels.
everglides are stocking four of the heartless wheels:
chaser, yellow, 92a
creeper, green, 90a
stalker, black, 88a
voodoo, red, 86a.
they're 35 quid for a pack of 4.
whoo! x

Hey ya'll those are the wheels I use, and I used them in the tournament too. I love them.

I do the green (creeper) 90 on the left on both skates, and red(breaker) 94a on the right, just look out for the christmas color jokes. The black(stalker) are an 88 and worked really well on concrete like at Earls Court. I have also used the green and yellow(chaser) 92 combo. Ash who use to be on be on our team but moved, like the black and white (vanish0 96 combo. I haven't used the white ones. My combo cuts really well, but the green and yellow did too, but I think the green and red are better. I actually have an extra set of green and yellow, they are a worn, and also the black if ya want to try them before you buy them. But I don't have any extra bearings for them.

I want to try some lovely new wheels, but I'm rather scared of narrow widths whilst I'm still a little shaky.
Does it make that much difference?

I was going to get some G-rods as the floor TSRG skated on was like ice, but CRC's floor is much grippier, so it's thrown my wheel perspective WAY out!

I HATE the floor at CRC since they resurfaced it. It sucks ass!

I switched to hockey wheels and I didn't notice the width difference at all. I was quite disappointed, I thought it was going to feel really different! I think they're actually a lot less scary to skate on - you don't feel as much like your wheels are going to lock or tangle with other people.

Wide wheels to me feel they clunk or I get caught up on my own feet with them. The narrow wheels seem to make your skates lighter. Could be all in my head, but I feel like they do. It takes a little time to adjust to switching widths, but in the long run I think its worth it. If you are looking to be a jammer and need speed, I think the hockey wheels that Mollie and a couple others have probably would be better, but as a blocker, these work great, they make cutting across the track to hit someone easier and faster. they also make corners easier as you are able to turn your inside foot more to cut as close as possible and guide your self around.

I agree - I tried my wider wheels the other day and found them so ungainly! I trip much less with the narrower wheels, but on the other hand I don't think I can hit quite as hard.

I've got atom omegas, which I think are the same grippiness as the G-rods, but narrower (although not as narrow as the heartless wheels). I'm thinking of maybe getting some slippier ones to try (I'm eyeing up the lowboy slims or maybe the stroker slims), but I wouldn't say they're too grippy. You're welcome to try them.

Emma - I'd like to have a go on your spare heartless'. I've got spare bearings in my spare wheels, but am rubbish at getting them out - does anyone have a tool/the knack? I'd like to try the hockey ones too - maybe we could have a wheel swap-o-rama at the end of one practice?

I can I can, I found the right way to get wheels out without a tool and won't damage bearing. Pretty proud of myself for that one.
