Plastic vs Leather entry skates
Apologies if this has been debated elsewhere...
I'm just about to take the plunge and buy my first skates and was gonna get a pair of Riedell R3's - but I see that they're plastic boots, which sound sweaty and horrible. Anyone know what the best leather alternative would be for a similar spec...or would this cost a whole lot more?
Thanks,
Eddie AKA Eraser Ed

Why don't you come into Billys and try some skates on?

to be honest - i have r3's and at the end of a session they are the least sweaty part of me, haha. an invention for knee pads an elbow pads that stay dry would be grand.

Yeah, I've never had any trouble with my R3s being sweaty. It's the back of my neck which gets worse... it just drips. Gross!

I'd agree. The cottony lining of the R3s is pretty good. A vinyl skate tends to need less breaking in too, but they don't last as well.
